News: One Design to host America Needs You fellows this summer

CHICAGO, May 14, 2020 — This summer, we’re thrilled to host three fellows from America Needs You (ANY) in a five-week remote internship.

ANY is a mentorship organization that fights for economic mobility for ambitious, first-generation college students. They do this by providing transformative mentorship and intensive career development through their Fellows Program.

This summer will be particularly unique because the fellows will experience our studio and the practices of design and writing in a virtual environment, learning the tools we use to engage our clients remotely. Each fellow will be paired with a One Design team member who most closely matches their skillset, to shadow on client work and collaborate on a project-based industry experience for five weeks.

“This is such a unique opportunity for all of us, but especially for the fellows, to see how One Design’s team adapts quickly to the constraints of working through social distancing,” Director of People, Process, and Culture Colleen Carroll says. “They will see first hand how to remotely engage with clients and team members and the power of strong, clear, and accessible communication. Learning what it’s like to function in the workplace has the potential to better set you up for success after graduation.”
