News: David Sieren Named AIGA Chicago Chapter President
CHICAGO, June 22, 2017 — One Design Company is excited to announce that Design Director David Sieren was named AIGA Chicago Chapter President.
AIGA is the nation’s oldest and largest professional membership organization for design, with 70 chapters and more than 25,000 members. Chicago represents the third largest chapter in terms of membership in the country.
“Design is about making an impact—it’s a tool for change in our communities,” Sieren says. “As the old professional models are changing, we need to initiate a healthy dialogue around what it means to be a designer today. AIGA is an ideal platform for this sort of conversation.”
Sieren is eager to collaborate with his colleagues on the board; committee members; and a large, dedicated volunteer network; ensuring that the Chicago chapter is focused on “action, engagement and impact.” He plans to be diligent in his support of ongoing initiatives designed to broaden the organization's capabilities, sharpen it’s focus on community impact and diversify its membership to be as broad and inclusive as possible—considering race, gender, ideology, discipline and beyond.
An active board member since 2013, as Education Co-Chair he helped reframe both grants and programming to better serve college students while broadening the organization’s relevance to high school students—establishing a partnership with Chicago Public Schools as a way to better support young talent throughout the city. In 2016, he was named the VP of Community Engagement.
